Denio's Law Reports, 1845-48
|
|
Reports of cases argued and determined in the Supreme Court and in the Court for the Correction of Errors and Appeals of the State of New York: by Hiram Denio, V.1-5, Albany/NYC, Gould, Banks & Gould, 1846-1850, all publ. (The "Supreme Court" in the New York system is at the trial court level. Denio's fifth volume is the last in a series of nominative reports from 1791-1848 covering the old common law courts of law and equity in New York. Effective 1 July 1848, under the provisions of a new state constitution, the contemporary system of unified jurisdiction began. The reporter's preface for volume five provides evidence that the change was not unanimously welcomed by the judiciary. LLMC has located a second printing of this Denio set by Banks and Bros., dated 1859. However, since it appears that, except for the changed publisher's name and date on the title pages, all of the remaining text seems to have been printed from the original plates of the 1846-50 edition, that 1859 reprint is not being offered separately on LLMC-Digital.)
