1718-10-09, Proclamation against piracy

October 9, 1718 proclamation issued by Gov. Robert Hunter of New York and New Jersey. The broadside stated that pardons would be granted if any pirate surrendered himself prior to September 5th for acts committed before January 5, 1718. The governor set up a system of rewards for the capture, etc of those pirates who did not so surrender or committed violations after January.
