May 9, 1709 Broadside requesting volunteers enlist in Her Majesty's service. The Boston proclamation, by Col. Francis Nicholson and Col. Samuel Vetch, further induced volunteers by offering such things as anew fire-box, flints, and ammunition to each volunteer after his enlistment.
