New York. 1808. Commissioners of the Alms House v. A. Whistelo
1808 Commissioners of the Alms House v. Alexander Whistelo, a black man accused of fathering a bastard child by Lucy Williams (a "yellow" woman).
After a physical examination of the child, and other evidence, the court determined that Whistelo was not the father. (Digitized from a microfilm copy
of a title originally held by the New York State Archives).
Title:   The Commissioners of the Alms-house, vs. Alexander Whistelo, a Black man : being a remarkable case of bastardy, tried and adjudged by the mayor, recorder, and several aldermen, of the city of New-York, under the act passed 6th March, 1801, for the relief of cities and towns from the maintenance of bastard children.
