1796-05-31, Seven Nations of Canada-U.S.
Treaty between the Nations or Tribes of Indians denominating themselves the Seven Nations of Canada, May 31, 1796, 7 Stat. 55-56. (A treaty concluded
in New York between the U.S. and the Seven Nations of Canada. The Seven nations were a confederation of First Nations living around the Saint
Lawrence River Valley. They were the Mohawk of Akwesasne, Mohawk of Kahnawake, Mohawk and Anishinaabeg of Kanesetake, Abenaki of Odanak, Abenaki of
Becancour (now Wolinak), Huron of Jeune-Lorette (now Wendake), and the Onondaga of Oswegatchie. This treaty cedes lands to the state of New York.)
