An address and proclamation, to the inhabitants of Connecticut, one of the United States of America : Whereas there is an inseparable connection between true religion and happiness ... I have thought fit ... to issue a solemn address and proclamation, beseeching and enjoining all orders and denominations of people to a serious meditation, a diligent improvement, and to a chearful observance thereof. ... Given under my hand in Lebanon, the second day of December, in the year of Our Lord, one thousand, seven hundred, and seventy-eight.
