April 27, 1775 Proclamation by Governor Johnathan Trumbull to establish an embargo on a variety of good and grain until May 20th. Of note, Trumbull
was the only colonial governor who supported the patriots. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of a title originally held by the Massachusetts

Title:   By the Honorable Jonathan Trumbull, Esquire; governor of the English colony of Connecticut ... a proclamation : Whereas it hath been resolved by the General Assembly ... that an embargo be laid upon the exportation out of this colony, by water, of wheat, rye, Indian corn, pork, beef, live cattle ... until the 20th day of May next ... I do hereby prohibit all persons from transporting by water ... any of the said articles ... Given under my hand at Hartford, this 27th day of April ... 1775.
