November 4, 1864 proclamation issued by Governor Newton Edmunds, setting November 24th as a day of thanksgiving for God's great benefits and the
success of soldiers in war. This proclamation was consistent with the President's similar proclamation. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles
originally held by Yale University Library).
Title:   Thanksgiving proclamation : ... I, Newton Edmunds, governor of the Territory of Dakota, do hereby appoint Thursday, the 24th day of November, instant, as a day of public thanksgiving to almighty God ... done at Yankton, the capital, this fourth day of November, A. D., 1864 / Newton Edmunds. Attest : John Hutchinson, secretary.
