Treasurer. Report on appropriations, 1827
H.R. 2 On June 16, 1826, the Treasurer was directed to prepare a detailed list of obligations, sources of revenue, and debts due the state, with all
departments and agencies contributing information so that a report could be presented in January 1827. On January 8, 1827, the Treasurer submitted
the report. Salaries, including pensions were listed on p. 5-25: $264,506. Revenue from taxes and fees were listed on p. 26-41: $265,695. Lands
owned by the state were 5,448,149 acres. The estimate of expenses for the coming year was on p. 42: $243,222. Estimated revenue was on p. 44: $210,200,
with a shortfall of $33,022. Several paragraphs discussed the reasons for the shortfall. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held
