165-?, William Penn's map of Maryland & Pennsylvania (Dut.)
165-? William Penn's copy of the map, in Dutch, used to to decide the boundary between Maryland and Pennsylvania. On the catalog card accompanying
the images, the dates 1655?-85 are lined out with the manuscript date 1651 added. The map itself includes names and locations of Indian tribes and
settlements and animal vignettes. The map follows the east coast from modern day New Brunswick in the north to Chesapeake Bay in the south. To the west,
the map extends as far as the Susquehanna River following its northern branch. The northernmost part the the map includes the St. Lawrence River.
