1838, Supreme Court. Opinion on election certification
January 15, 1838 Opinion of the Justices of the Maine supreme Judicial Court regarding a Senate inquiry regarding the legislature's ability to admit
evidence on votes for governor, and under what circumstances, as well as whether to allow parole evidence to be used in this process, except when
fraud is suspected. After consideration, the Court decided that the legislature is not competent to admit evidence that votes are not what they purport
to be, nor use parole evidence in this process. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Library of Congress).
