1842 Illinois resolution seeking the refund of a $1,000 fine paid by General Andrew Jackson following his declaration of martial law in New Orleans
during the campaign of 1814-15; and transmitted to the Virginia General Assembly. Of note, the former president sought this refund as a show of
support for martial law during what he considered as a national emergency. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of
