Biennial report of the Attorney General of Illinois: biennial, Springfield, state printer, (title varies) 1874–1984 (According to Pimsleur’s Checklist of Basic American Publications, no A.G. reports were separately published for Illinois after the 1983-84 biennial. The office of Attorney General in Illinois was provided for in its first, 1818, Constitution, but the requirement for regular reports dates only from the 1870 Constitution. Subsequently, the reports for Illinois were published biennially and, starting with 1881-82 included the opinions. Starting in 1913, the publication of the opinions only became annual; with those for each second year being bound in with the biennial reports. This quirk for Illinois, and the fact that for many of the other states there were differing patterns of publication for the A.G reports and opinions, makes for a confusing literature. To minimize confusion in its online offerings, LLMC has chosen to group all of the U.S. state attorney generals’ reports and opinions in two separate series for each state. For the Illinois A.G. Opinions, see the separate Opinions series elsewhere on this site. According to Pimsleur’s Checklist of Basic American Publications, no A.G. reports were separately published for Illinois after the 1983-84 biennial.)
