1886-04-27, Proclamation against expulsion of Chinese
April 27, 1886 Governor Edward A. Stevenson's proclamation which forbids all localities in Idaho from organizing on May 1st to expel Chinese
settlers. Sheriffs were instructed to prevent all riots and other activities, and to maintain peace. Of note, this apparently was the result of a convention
held in Boise on February 25, 1886 in which white residents had voted to expel Chinese citizens. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles
originally held by the Library of Congress).
