The Hawaiian collection of Paul Markham Kahn: n.a., spiral-bound soft-covered auction catalog, Vol. 1-3, Sydney, Hordern House, 1990? (A TOC specific to each volume follows the titles page of Vols. 1-2, with pagination organized by section number and page within that section. Vol. 1 contains Section 1-12 and Vol. 13-42 contains Sections 13-42. Vol. 3 contains the indexes: alphabetical, pp, 1-177, and chronological, pp. 178-225. The biographical note signed by Mr. Kahn at the front of Vol. 1 is dated 1990. Paul Markham Kahn, a San Francisco resident and actuary by profession, was a descendent on his mother’s side of early Hawaiian settlers, the Markhams. He began collecting Hawaiiana in 1948 at age 13, and by the time he was in his mid-fifties had accumulated one of the largest such collection in existence. When the collection became available for sale in 1990, it was finally acquired by the State of Hawaii through an effort led largely by Stuart T.K. Ho. The collection has now been integrated as a special gem within the collections of the Hawaii State Archives. Many of the titles offered on this site were scanned from the Kahn Collection with the kind assistance of the Archives staff.)
