SEE ALSO: 56912 Wrapper: 1755 The Governor's speech to the Indians, ___ otherwise Wyandots or Hurons Note: There appeared to be no date to the
original from which this was copied, Governor's name not mentioned--Transcriber. Header: Governor's speech to the Indians. Earlier, Scarrooyady had
presented Iagrea, who was an undercover representative of the Wyandottes. The Governor had sent a message with Iagrea to tell his people the King was
sending an army to protect the Indians. However, General Braddock, of the Army, did not understand the Native Americans way of war and allowed
himself to be surprised and defeated. The Governor would still like to be friends with the Wyandotte and had brought clothing and some powder for them.
The Governor made a similar speech to the Six Nations, thanking them for their steadfast help in battle. (Digitized from material held at the American
Philosophical Society)
