1847-1853 Kearny Code was a legal code named after General Stephen W. Kearny, promulgated in present-day Santa Fe, New Mexico on September 22, 1846 for use in the new New Mexico Territory. These volumes record land grants and conveyances which the Code required by registered. Book A covered January 27, 1847 to January 22, 1849; Book B was lost; Book C from January 1-July 25, 1849; and Book D from December 18, 1851 to July 25, 1853. Included were indices and some table of contents in English. Various deeds, orders of the governor and other legal documents were included.
