Carson Valley, Utah Territory, 1851-55, First records (MS)
|
|
First public records of Carson Valley in the Utah Territory from 1851 to 1855. The manuscripts were in several hands and are legible. Of note, the Utah became a territory on September 9, 1850; however, Carson Valley is located in what is now Nevada. The town, renamed Genoa in 1856, was first settled by Mormons and was a stopping point for settlers traveling to California. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held the Carson City Public Library).
