House. Comm. on Militia. Report on Title 33 of the revision, 1846
|
|
Legislature 1846. House Doc. no. 13. Report of Committee on Militia. [Michigan] Militia law was always difficult; in peacetime, no one cared. The Committee recommended charging every eligible male 50c per year, collected by the county assessor. The money would support a volunteer militia. The proposed law also called for much tighter weapons control.
