Consular Convention between the United States of America and the Emperor of the French, proclaimed by President Franklin Pierce on August 12, 1853
and printed in Raleigh in 1855. Included in the agreement were provisions for consular officials and their respective duties and powers, ownership of
real and personal property in their respective countries, and merchant and shipwrecks, all which remained in force for ten years. (Digitized from a
