House. Select Comm. on Sale of Tobacco. Report, 1854
|
|
1854 Report of the Select House Committee regarding the petition of citizens of Jefferson County, which would prohibit the sale and manufacture of tobacco. In its report the committee noted that it was well-known that one could shave 10 years off one's life through the use of tobacco, as well as citing other negatives regarding tobacco. The majority favored passage, the minority opposed due to increasing agriculture of tobacco in state and other reasons. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Library of Congress).
