|
**Doc. No. 36 Annual report of the Portsmouth and Columbus Turnpike Company. The data was to December 1840, with the report dated January 20, 1841. Ten miles, including bridges and culverts, had been completed. Thirty miles were under contract, with five miles awaiting contract.
**Doc. No. 40 Report of the Portsmouth and Columbus Turnpike Company. The data was for November 15, 1841, with the report dated December 29, 1841. The road would be completed by July 15, 1842. So far it had cost just under $70,000. There was not enough money available to McAdamize it, but the company would do that as funds, presumably tolls, became available.
Doc. No. 32 Annual report of the Portsmouth and Columbus Turnpike Company. The data was as of November 30, 1842, submitted on December 26, 1842. One bridge had been lost, but it was being rebuilt. The rest of the road was open, with collection of half toll. That money would be used to maintain the road and McAdamize it, if possible. If the state would pay its warrants, the books would balance.
