Doc. No. 53 Special report of the Board of Public Works [Ohio] in relation to applicants for subscriptions of stock to turnpike and other
companies, under the internal improvement law. January 10, 1840. Five turnpike companies had submitted plans for work, but all had gravely underestimated the
costs. One railroad had done a survey, but had not submitted anything to the Board. The Board knew other companies were preparing plans.
