October 27, 1830 petition by a number of citizen to the General Assembly, requesting that a section of an act be repealed and Indians be subject to
suits to recover debts, similar to all citizens of Rhode Island. The petitioners indicated that they have been called to provide provisions to the
Narragansett members who are often in distressing circumstances; however, they do not always fulfill their obligations and debts. (Digitized from a
