Senate. Standing Comm. on Mercantile Affairs. Report, 1826
|
|
On June 15, 1826, the Senate Standing Committee on Mercantile Affairs responded to a petition from the chief lighthouse keeper to release two parcels of land to build 2 lighthouses. The Committee observed there were already 24 lighthouses on Cape Cod and that there had been problems with mariners being confused by multiple lights, so they were not in favor of more lights. The request was held for consideration by the whole body. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
