An act to establish a school of agriculture at Dummer Academy, 1826. The name of the corporation was to be Trustees of the Dummer Academy and
Massachusetts School of Agriculture. The Trustees were to establish the school, appoint a professor and other instructors, fix salaries, and buy or build
housing and instructional buildings, all to be confirmed by a Board of Visitors. The members of the first Board were named and it was to meet every
May, with the usual duties. There was an appropriation of $4,000 to get the school up and running. The State Governor was to monitor the annual reports
of the Board of Visitors and if, by the second year, he felt the instructors were underpaid, he could send no more than $1500 per year to make up a
shortfall. However, the school had to maintain a census of at least 40 students. If the school could not be up and running in two years, the act was
