SEE ALSO 51740, 51743 On February 1, 1826, George Coffin, the State Land Agent, responded to the House Committee on Public Lands. He explained the
method of payment for public lands, the division of townships, and noted that over 263,000 acres had been given to schools, academies, etc. to support
those institutions. He included the money received for timbering and haying privileges, and the costs for surveying the land. Pages 5-22 were charts
showing information about the public lands sold in Maine. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State
