General Court. Act authorizing the extension of Fanuiel Hall Market, 1824
In 1824, the General Court presented an Act to expand Fanuiel Market in Boston. The City Council was approved by the state to expand the market when
the Council was ready. Potential boundaries were listed and a condemnation procedure laid down: five disinterested persons estimated the
compensation amount. Those who were dissatisfied with their compensation award could sue in the Supreme Court and repeat the five disinterested citizens
process. If still aggrieved after that process, the person could again apply to the Supreme Court and have a jury trial. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of
title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
