The Constitution of the State of Alabama adopted on August 2, 1819. Printed in Huntsville in 1819. This was the first state constitution and converted the territory into a state, following passage of the enabling act. Of note, there was universal suffrage for white men, there was no property, educational, or other voting qualifications.
