Fifth United States census, transmitted by President Andrew Jackson on December 1831. Of note, New York had the largest population of slightly over 1,900,000 person, of which only 46 were slaves. The second most populous state, Virginia, had a total of over 1,300,000, with almost 470,000 slaves. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
