|
|
Twenty-sixth Legislature. No. 11 House. State of Maine, 1846. When Maine received an extradition request from another jurisdiction, any court in the state could issue a warrant for the accused appearance. If the person did appear, the court could examine him or her on the charges. If the charges appeared to be true, and the charge was a bailable offense in Maine, the accused could be bailed, but if it were not, s/he would be jailed, awaiting extradition.
