Senate. Comm. on Manufactures. Report on L. Carey's petition, 1841
1841 Report of the Joint Standing Committee on Manufactures regarding the petition of Luther Carey and others, which requested that the state fix a
bounty on the manufacture of silk. Of note, the committee endorsed temporary bounties to assist in the beginnings of industries, and manufacturing in
general. However, the members decided that this bounty should be the province of federal legislature, and thus gave the petitioners leave to
withdraw their petition. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
