Joint Sel. Comm. on Redemption of Money. Report, 1837
|
|
1837 Majority and minority reports by the Joint Select Committee on the redemption of money by banks through outside agencies. After consideration, the majority concluded that this system of banking had many objections and attached a proposed act which would prohibit banks from establishing agencies out of the state to redeem their bills, as well as regulating the ratio of specie bills in circulation. The minority report disagreed with this position; no proposed act was attached. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine State Library).
