February 9, 1836 report of the Joint Standing Committee on Banks and Banking regarding a number of petitions to increase capital and for new banks.
After noting that the current banks were enjoying a monopoly and a high profits, the committee concluded that more banks and increased capital would
benefit the customers of the state. Also included was a schedule of the banks, with the amount in circulation, increased capital and new banks.
