House. Comm. on the Judiciary. Report on State Prison & criminal code, 1829
|
|
1829 Report of the House Committee on the Judiciary regarding the Attorney General's report on State Prisons and the criminal code (see LLMC #24361). After consideration of the report, the committee proposed a bill providing for the government of the state prisons and the punishment of convicts. Of note, section 7 on page 12 provided that the warden could charge $.25 per person for admission to the state prison for the purpose of viewing same, presumably to over the cost of the additional overseer. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine State Library).
