1774-05-27, Burgesses. Boycott of E. India Co., etc.
May 27, 1774 communication from an association of past House of Burgesses members who urged, in solidarity with Boston and in response to Britain's
treatment of that city, that the American colonies boycott the tea of the East India Company. In addition the association requested that the various
Committees of Correspondence select and send delegates to a general Congress to decide what measures should be taken. Of note, George Washington,
Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and Richard Henry Lee were a few or the eighty-nine members who signed this document. Also attached was an approval by
various citizens of Virginia. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
