<1732>-1775 Journal of the Virginia House of Burgesses. Of note, the 1774 assembly was dissolved by the governor in response to the growing sentiment against Great Britain. Subsequently, the 1775 Journal (#22277.1775-060) opened with a speech from the governor, Lord Dunmore, which exhorted the members of the House to accept resolutions from Parliament. Two speeches later, the members rejected the resolutions and indicated that merely the method of oppression had changed, not the oppression itself. At the time of microfilming the Early State Records Collection, the Library of Congress was unable to locate a document for the following sessions: the 1st session of the 1727/28 Assembly from February 1 - March 30; and the second session of the 1730 Assembly from May 21 - July 9. (The Early State Records collection was digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress, the Public Record Office in London, Virginia State Library, and the Collection of Mrs. George P. Coleman in Williamsburg).
