1847, Louisa R.R. Co. Memorial to Gen. Assembly
December 1847 Memorial of the President and Directors of the Louisa Railroad Company, submitted to the Virginia General Assembly. The petition was
in response to the governor's message regarding the aftereffects of an act which allowed the company to extend the railroad to the eastern base of the
Blue Ridge. The petitioners claim they had wide latitude for the route; the Board of Public Works refused as the company's actions violated the law.
This petition in support of the railroad's actions also included various supportive documents and communication. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of
title originally held by the Library of Congress).
