1850, Fox. Report on the Raleigh & Gaston Rail Road
1850 Report of Major S. Moylan Fox, civil engineer, on the condition of the Raleigh and Gaston Rail Road, and submitted to the General Assembly by
Governor Charles Manly. Fox concluded that the road was in poor shape and estimated that repairs would be extensive. Two appendices were included
that listed the value of the railroad property and the new equipment needed; and the routes needed to be added in order to have a railroad from New York
to New Orleans. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Library of Congress).
