Gen. Assembly. Resolutions on incendiary publications, 1835
December 19, 1835 Preamble and resolutions on the subject of incendiary publications adopted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina
and submitted to the Virginia legislature by Governor Tazewell. Included in the resolutions were requests to other states to pass penal laws against
the printing of publications which support the abolition of slavery, and tend to make slaves "discontented" or incite them to insurrection. (Digitized
