1855 Senate bill to incorporate the North Carolina Central Atlantic and Pacific Railroad Company to construct a railroad connecting by railway the
Atlantic Seaboard Steamboat Navigation & Railways of the Atlantic slope of North Carolina with the Steamboat Navigation & Railways of the Mississippi
Valley. The bill provided for the subscription and corporate procedures, as well as all management and other relevant construction and corporate
matters. Also included were provisions for compensation for land used to construct the railroad and penalties for damaging railroad properties. (Digitized
