1852 report from the Committee on Tabular Statement, which listed the population by county. The listed categories were: white males; white females;
"colored" males; "colored" females; total free population; slaves; and federal population. In addition, this latter number was determined by counting
slaves as 3/5 of a person and adding that sum to the free population. The statement separately listed the Cherokee Indian population in several
