|

December 30, 1844 bill in the North Carolina Senate to consolidate and amend various acts regarding the Common Schools. This established the
procedure to be used to establish and fund the common schools in the districts and delineated the duties and obligations of the Literary Board and its
officials. Of note, the bill required that the voters approve a common school before one might be established in that district. (Digitized from a
