Senate. Comm. on Judiciary. Report and bill on elegit writ, 1844
1844 Report by the Committee on the Judiciary regarding a bill to amend and repeal the section of the revised statutes that dealt with one of the
writs of execution called an elegit, that is, a judicial writ of execution by which a defendant's goods and if necessary his lands are delivered for debt
to the plaintiff until the debt is paid. The committee concluded this writ was not necessary, and thus should be repealed. (Digitized from a
microfilm copy of titles originally held by the University of North Carolina Library at Chapel Hill).
