Comm. Report in response to letter from Gov. of S. Carolina, 1832
|
|
1832 Report of the North Carolina Joint Select Committee to review the communication of the Governor of South Carolina and the accompanying documents. This report dealt with the 1832 Nullification Convention in South Carolina, in which the state declared it would not honor the federal duties imposed on manufactured goods within its borders. The Joint Committee responded by imploring South Carolina to exercise forbearance, and in a series of proposed resolutions, expressed devotion to the United States and against nullification. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the University of North Carolina Library at Chapel Hill).
