The Office and Authority of a Justice of the Peace, as well as a number of other officers, written and printed by James Davis in 1774 in New Bern,
North Carolina. This volume contained an alphabetical list of legal terms and processes, along with their explanations and copies of the their
respective indictments. Margin notes of topics were also used by the author. Included was an appendix containing precedents from common law and statutes
of England and North Carolina. An index of topics was also included, which could serve as a table of contents. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of
titles originally held by the University of North Carolina Library).
