1862 Railroad Convention of companies in Virginia, Tennessee east of Knoxville, and North Carolina north of Weldon, which submitted resolution to
allow railroads to protect its bridges against the open force or secret incendiary. These were submitted to the General Assembly by Governor Letcher.
