Description and Holding Information
1835, Constitutional Conv. Proceedings and debates, June 4, 1835
Proceedings and Debates of the North Carolina Constitutional Convention to amend the Constitution, held in Raleigh from June 4 to July 11, 1835.
After much discussion, the amended constitution was submitted to a vote. The Convention Act, the Amendments to the Constitution and the vote by the
citizen was included in this document. The amendments made some significant changes in the structure of state government, including a more even
distribution of representatives throughout the state, and the selection of the governor by election rather than in the General Assembly. It also limited
voting to white men. See LLMC #21262-67 and 21347 for related material. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Library of
Congress).
