1836, Convention which assembled at Raleigh, June 4, 1835
The Declaration of Rights, the North Carolina constitution, the proposed amendments for the state constitution and the relevant ordinance for
carrying out the constitutional convention which began on June 4, 1835 and published that same year in Raleigh. These amendments altered the method of
apportioning seats in the General Assembly, which had previously favored the eastern portion of the state. Other changes in the structure of the state
