April 25, 1774 Proclamation issued by Gov. John Murray, Lord Dunmore, which asserted control over Pittsburgh, and not Pennsylvania, and required
assistance from the town's citizen in support of this rule. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Collection of Mrs. George

Title:   Whereas I have reason to apprehend that the government of Pennsylvania, in prosecution of their claim to Pittsburg and its dependencies, will endeavour to obstruct his Majesty's government thereof under my administration, by illegal and unwarrantable commitments of the officers I have appointed ... Given under my hand, and the seal of the colony, at Williamsburg, this 25th day of April, 1774, and in the 14th year of his Majesty's reign.
